Sunnybank House in Eastleigh are looking for additional care assistants to join their care team due to our occupancy increasing.

Sunnybank is a luxurious residential nursing, dementia and residential care home offering the best in care to our lovely residents. Our care assistants provide individual care as required by each resident in order to meet their personal needs whilst ensuring that each person’s dignity and individuality is upheld and their independence, choice and control is promoted at all times. Our care assistants, and the whole team create a happy and caring atmosphere; which involves providing a wide range of general caring services and duties and the general day to day activities within the home.  

Main Responsibilities

Ensuring the highest possible levels of care are maintained by supporting/assisting residents, when required, with washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, and all other aspects of daily living, according to their individual needs.

  • Paying particular attention to assisting residents who have limited mobility, or physical difficulties, making the best use of aids provided.
  • Closely monitoring residents who may be confused and/or who have behavioural problems.
  • Promoting continence and assisting with toileting.
  • Assisting in the delivery of care for residents who are dying or who have a progressive illness. Keeping your line manager fully informed of the events.  
  • Promote the rights, dignity, privacy, respect, & choice to every resident when providing care.
  • Support & encourage residents to maintain their independence with daily living.
  • Observing care planning needs for residents and completing daily records as instructed and in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in framework of social activities by interacting with residents and helping them to continue with hobbies and activities in the Home.
  • Answering Call bell system and giving assistance as required ensuring residents retain their comfort & dignity.
  • Answering the door and telephone appropriately. Responding accordingly, and passing on messages promptly.
  • Under the supervision and guidance of Senior Care Assistants, reporting on the well-being of residents.
  • Making Visitors feel welcome. Providing refreshments / assistance as and when required and spporting residents on admission to settle into their new home.

 

Health and Safety:

  • Reporting immediately to the General Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a resident, colleague, self or another.
  • Understanding and ensuring the implementation of the Home’s Health and Safety, Infection Control and Hygiene policies, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
  • Adhere to the homes policies & procedures for infection control including clinical waste, laundry, COSHH, body spillages. Moving & handling, food hygiene, sharps, safe handling of medicine.
  • Remove from use any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard & report this to your line manager & the Maintenance Team.
  • Promoting safe working practice within the Home.
  • To take responsibility for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions
  • Adhere to the homes smoking policy, this can vary at each home

Job Requirements

Person Specification 

  • Physically and medically able to carry out duties and responsibilities with or without assistive aids
  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent qualifications if not willingness to attend
  • Team player, self-motivated, proactive, flexible and adaptable
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload and work under pressure
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
